A study to establish the reference range for random urine sodium and potassium in apparently healthy individuals: A pilot study
Project Description
Urine collection and the measurement of analytes such as protein, creatinine, calcium, phosphorus, uric acid, magnesium, sodium, and potassium are essential for assessing kidney function. Potassium estimation is particularly important in diagnosing conditions like dehydration, vomiting, and diarrhea, while sodium estimation aids in identifying renal diseases and adrenal gland disorders. Currently, reference ranges for these parameters are derived from studies conducted on non-Indian populations. This study aims to establish reference ranges specific to the Indian population, improving the accuracy of diagnoses and treatment plans.
