Despite multiple benign findings from various diagnostic procedures, the patient's anxiety about a potential malignancy led to repeated investigations, culminating in a left-sided neck dissection. The case underscores the challenges of managing patient-driven demands for certainty in an era of defensive medicine, where physicians may feel compelled to order excessive tests.
