Esophagitis dessicans superficialis with bulla in chronic renal failure: a case report
Esophagitis dissecans superficialis (EDS) is an uncommon entity that is characterized by sloughing of the esophageal mucosa with production of a benign esophageal cast. The term was coined by Rosenberg1 and to date only 32 cases have been reported, a fourth of which have associated skin disease due in part to the stratified squamous epithelium being common to both organs.2 This is a description of EDS in a patient with chronic renal failure.
