Department of Psychiatry
I am currently the Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at St. John’s Medical College, and a Professor in the Department of Medical Ethics. I also serve as the Head of the Division of Mental Health & Neurosciences at St. John’s Research Institute. In addition, I am a Faculty member in the Department of Medical Ethics and a Member of the Institutional Ethics Committee at St. John’s Medical College & Hospital.
I have over two decades of experience in clinical practice, teaching, research, and academic leadership. My clinical practice encompasses adult psychiatry across the lifespan, and I have extensive experience in managing a broad range of psychiatric disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
My primary area of expertise is substance use disorders, with particular emphasis on alcohol and tobacco use disorders. I am currently an Assistant Editor of the Journal of Addictive Diseases. My academic roles include scholarly writing, journal and departmental editorial work, curriculum development, and faculty mentorship, spanning the fields of psychiatry and medical ethics.
